Trick vs. Treat, also known as Splatoween, was already an earlier Splatfest event in Splatoon 2. It was held for all regions from 19 October 2018 to 21 October 2018.

It was announced on 3 October 2018 on social networks after the release of version 4.1.0 and on 5 October 2018 at 08:00 UTC in-game. The results were given on 22 October 2018.

The Splatfest took place over the course of 48 hours instead of the normal 24 hours. It was the first 48-hour Splatfest in Splatoon 2.

In addition to the normal changes at Splatfest time (central stage appearing in Inkopolis Square, all stages shown at night time), there were several changes unique to this Splatfest as part of the Halloween theme.
