Edgeguard Adapter – Make your keyboards a controller!

Have you ever wanted to use a keyboard with the Nintendo Switch? Well for competitive players it sometimes even is a must.

Introducing The Edgeguard Adapter

Some games are just better with a keyboard. Games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Rivals of Aether, and Super Mario Maker require immediate actions and quick-turnarounds. You also have games like Tetris 99 that benefit from using arrow keys rather than a small D-Pad.

Developer insight

Daniel noted the following to us;

The goal of The Edgeguard Adapter is to bring keyboard play to consoles using an adapter. Although this doesn’t translate well for some games (first-person shooters for example) it works excellently for competitive 2D games like Smash Ultimate (which is our main target audience right now.)

We’re starting with the Nintendo Switch, but the goal would be to expand to other consoles like the PS4, Xbox One, and allow software updates to keep our product compatible with future consoles that may be released.

I strongly feel that a keyboard gives a competitive edge to games like Smash but also opens the playing field for users who can’t use traditional controllers. My favorite example of this is that with our adapter, a one-handed gamer could use a keyboard like the Razer Orbweaver and play to their full capacity.

Accessibility means inclusion

For those who can’t use controllers. We are excited to see players who may have had physical difficulties playing on controllers be able to find a keyboard that enables them to join in on the fun. Our dream is that by making the community more open and accessible to others, we can help create a thriving environment where people from all backgrounds can come and compete – or just have fun!

Compatible with every keyboard

Express yourself! We want to see players express themselves and find a keyboard that works best for them, both in style and in comfort. Personally I would love using my mechanical keyboards (Ducky Shine or Duck One 2 Mini’s )for some titles.
