No review copies Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sent out

For those of you who are waiting for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate reviews, you might have to wait longer than usual before the review hits.

According to review veteran Daan Koopman (NintenDaan), absolutely no one has received review copies for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate yet.

And even if they did the always would come with an embargo to make sure nothing gets spoiled to soon.

Embargo

For those of you not familiar with embargos let me give some insight; an embargo can mean a lot of things really. But it is something you agree to if you want to use the provided review copy. This can mean not showing anything before a certain date, only show specific content before a certain date, not showing the boxart before a certain date. And the list could go on.

Back to the review copies situation; it  seems that no review copies applies to both Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe. This is highly unusual as select members of the press usually receive review copies a good 2 to 3 weeks in advance, so they can dive into them, build an opinion, a review, a story.

Nintendo could be sending them out later this week, but no one knows for sure.

We are confident that some members of the Japanese press, for example Famitsu, will have a review score ready by next week for the game.

Leaks

Well yes there where leaks … and enough for them to circulate around the web and cause all kinds of things being spoiled.  Some speculate that the leaks could have affected Nintendo’s review policy for the media in general.

Due to the nature of all the leaks containing spoilers we have decided to keep any news of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that would ruin the wow-factor if you will for fans to a minimum. Sure we want to be the hip news reporting site but not over the backs of the people who come here for a bit of integrity. When it concerns information that would ruin the experience we will decide how we will act and that usually results in us not running the story.

But let’s talk a bit about the leaks because what is also a new trend is that they are accompanied with so called brick-code in the Nintendo Switch scene. Yes code that will make your Nintendo Switch unusable. This first seems to have happend with the early leaks of Pokemon Lets Go.

But what is even more noteworthy; if both NOA and NOE have not issued review copies of the game. Then the leak must have come from somewhere else. We are sure Nintendo’s ninjas are researching this.

Piracy is a no-go

In no means do we condone the leaks of any game or piracy in any form because in the long run it’s a vicious circle. Meaning if we harm the creators that can eventually harm us as a player. Just think enough about it and you will realise this.

We wait quietly until December 7 so that we can start with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate just like you!
