Nintendo announced earlier that stand-in Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima will be stepping down from the company in June and will be replaced by Shuntaro Furukawa as Nintendo president.
Furukawa told press that he plans to develop the company to its fullest potential and will balance Nintendo’s traditions.
Furukawa’s statement
We will develop the company to its fullest,” he said. “I will balance Nintendo’s traditions: originality and flexibility.
Well we are Nintendo fans, but we do have some general recommendations when it comes to how Nintendo is approaching some things. Main thing is the whole digital vs physical debate. We would love to see Nintendo go with a Steam-like approach. Also when it comes to the game library in itself and the way it ties in with Nintendo Switch Online and Virtual Console … but who knows … maybe Furukawa is going to be going that route.
