Story

Ivalice: the kingdom blessed by the gods’ light and ruled under the banner of the twin-headed lion. One year after its defeat to Ordallia in the Fifty Years’ War, the king succumbed to illness, leaving a two-year-old boy to ascend the throne.

In practice, rule would pass to whoever was appointed regent. Two rival candidates emerged: Dukes Goltanna and Larg, whose deeds during the war had earned them great renown. Goltanna, the Black Lion, and Larg, the White Lion, were destined to clash—and the conflict that followed became known as the War of the Lions.

Against this backdrop stand Ramza, the third son of House Beoulve—one of Ivalice’s leading military families—and his childhood friend Delita, a commoner raised among nobles. As they try to chart a course through this turbulent era, a powerful current draws them ever closer to the brink.

Battles

Lead your party in tense encounters where strategic positioning and planning decide the outcome. Use the varied terrain of 3D battlefields to your advantage, and skillfully manipulate turn order to seize victory.

Character growth and customization

Combine different jobs and abilities to develop strategies of your own.

As your party members grow, they gain access to more jobs, each with its own unique skills. Once learned, abilities can even be carried over when switching to another job. With more than 20 jobs to master (including White Mage, Black Mage, Dragoon, and many other roles from the FINAL FANTASY series) and hundreds of abilities to learn, you can experiment to your heart’s content and discover the combinations that best suit your party. You can also tame Chocobos and other creatures and deploy them in battle.

Two versions: Enhanced and Classic

Featuring upgraded visuals, full voice acting, and refined gameplay, the Enhanced version is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the world of Ivalice. Alongside improvements to various features and combat mechanics, the addition of the more approachable “Squire” difficulty setting makes the Enhanced version an excellent starting point for new players.

The Classic version pairs the graphics and gameplay of the 1997 original with the renowned War of the Lions translation, offering a unique way to experience this beloved title.
