In Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush for the Wii U, all the colors of Dream Land have been stolen! Discover a whimsical clay world in this vibrant platform adventure. Use the Wii U GamePad touchscreen to draw rainbow ropes for Kirby to roll along, or to dodge obstacles and enemies. Make use of every available ability to find all kinds of items and help Kirby bring color back to his homeland!
Kirby and his Waddle Dee friends are enjoying a quiet day when a portal opens and a villain named Claycia appears, stealing all the colors and turning Dream Land upside down. Fortunately, a magical paintbrush named Elline also emerges from the portal and restores the colors to Kirby and his friends. Ever ready for adventure, our heroes immediately set off in pursuit of Claycia.
Draw on the touchscreen to move through each stage. In ball form, Kirby rolls along rainbow ropes in the direction you sketch them. Draw loops to give Kirby extra speed, or tap him to dash—then let him attack enemies or break blocks with a Star Dash! You can only draw a limited number of rainbow ropes at once, so keep an eye on your ink gauge!
At certain moments Kirby can transform into various vehicles. Depending on Kirby’s form, you’ll use the rainbow ropes in different ways: tap the touchscreen and draw rainbow paths to send Kirby Rocket soaring through the air, guide Kirby Submarine’s torpedoes to their targets, or direct Kirby Tank’s movement and aim its cannon!
The player with the Wii U GamePad controls Kirby and draws rainbow ropes. Up to three additional players can join in as Waddle Dees. They can play using Wii Remotes or Wii U Pro Controllers and drop in or out at any time. Waddle Dees can run along rainbow ropes, collect items, attack enemies, and pick up Kirby when he needs help.
There’s plenty to find in every level, so search every nook and cranny and scrape away every bit of clay to uncover everything—like hidden treasure chests with music tracks and clay figurines of familiar Kirby characters. And if you want a real challenge, try Challenge Mode. Complete trials within one minute, grabbing four treasure chests with only fifteen seconds allotted for each. Or prove your skills in a mode where you must find twelve treasure chests in a row—miss one and you’ll have to start over!
In certain stages you can also use a compatible amiibo to give Kirby a new look and extra powers. The Kirby amiibo lets you use the Star Dash whenever you like, the King Dedede amiibo grants extra health, and the Meta Knight amiibo increases Kirby’s dash speed so he can zip straight through certain enemies!
