Yoshi’s Woolly World is a platform game that bursts off the screen with bright colors and super-sharp fabric textures, exclusive to the Wii U. Run and jump with your Yarn Yoshi through an enchanting handcrafted world! Use Yoshi’s signature abilities to uncover all kinds of secrets and collect bonuses: use Yoshi’s tongue to pull walls apart, throw yarn balls to knit new platforms, and flutter jump to reach tricky spots.
Craft Island is in danger! On their paradise island in the Craft Sea, the Yoshis are having fun as always—until the wicked wizard Kamek crashes the party! Using his magic, the villain turns most of the Yoshis into yarn balls, but a few of them escape his spell and chase the miserable mage off before he can cause more harm. The remaining Yoshis team up and set out to rescue their friends!
Despite his woolly look, Yoshi can still perform many of his classic moves. He can swallow enemies, hover to high platforms with a flutter jump, and throw objects to hit foes or open new paths—only this time, Yoshi throws yarn balls instead of eggs! To get those yarn balls, Yoshi can gobble up enemies, tug at loose buttons, or bop yarn baskets. With yarn balls as projectiles, Yoshi can hit enemies and switches, and also knit new platforms wherever you see a dotted frame! Yoshi can also take on different forms—like a motorcycle, a plane, or a mole—to travel through special areas.
Every course is littered with bonuses, and not all of them are easy to spot! You’ll find shiny beads everywhere, but other items are well hidden. Push against suspicious-looking walls to slide them aside and reveal new areas, unravel the background to discover secrets, and toss yarn balls to reveal invisible objects. Collect Smiley Flowers to unlock new stages, hunt down Wonder Wool to rescue Yoshi’s pals and discover new Yoshi patterns, and even find Stamp Patches that unlock Miiverse stamps!
Play together with a friend or family member in local multiplayer. Two players can accomplish more when searching for items or taking down enemies. You can also reach new heights together: use each other as a step to jump higher, or throw your teammate as a yarn ball to reach hard-to-access places!
Everyone can have fun with yarn! Enjoy a traditional Yoshi experience in Classic Mode, or play at your own pace in Mellow Mode. In Mellow Mode, Yoshi gets a pair of wings to fly and finds more recovery hearts along the way. If a course still gives you trouble, an Invincibility Egg appears after five attempts to protect you from enemy attacks.
You can use amiibo in several ways in Yoshi’s Woolly World. Touch compatible amiibo to the NFC touchpoint on the Wii U GamePad to play with a Double Yoshi in single-player, save a Yoshi pattern to the amiibo, or unlock Yoshi designs based on other famous characters!
