Save play times when it comes to save transfers

Save play times when it comes to save transfers

Well there seems to be somewhat of a flaw when it comes down to save transfers and play times. And with the recent release of the Nintendo Switch Lite we want to see if we can help prevent that loss (for others …)

Play times

As is common to most videogame consoles, the Nintendo Switch has a feature which records the amount of time its users have spent playing each individual game. Which is something a lot of people take a certain amount of pride in, so losing that is something which you would like to prevent.

But it seems Nintendo did not make that as easy as it could have been… we had to experience that fact the hard way.

Save transfers

When transferring data from one Nintendo Switch to the other, the console will reset the play times of every game that is not on the user’s recently played list. Which seems like a troubling oversight on the part of Nintendo.

To make matters even worse though, the play time remains reset even if the user transfers their data back to the original console it came from.

Is it an issue?

While this will likely not be a big issue for most users, like we stated many Nintendo Switch owners see long play times on games as a form of pride / accomplishment.

We do hope Nintendo will find a way to fix this if at all possible … because it just feels wrong to have a fully completed normal and master mode with only a few minutes or hours on the playtime for Breath of the Wild for example.
