BAFTA Game Awards 2020 – Streaming online due to Corona virus

The BAFTA Game Awards will be seeing a format change in light of the corona virus outbreak.

Instead of the usual ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the awards will be streamed online on April 2nd, 2020. Which means we will still be hearing about the Game Award winners despite the ongoing outbreak

Official BAFTA Game Awards Statement

Amid growing concerns over the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and the number of nominees due to travel from overseas, we have made the decision to change the format of next month’s BAFTA Games Awards from a red carpet ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London to an online live stream, which will broadcast globally on the same day as scheduled (Thursday 2 April).

The health and wellbeing of our guests and our staff remain our top priority, so there will be no live audience and we are now in the process of informing all our nominees, guests, partners and suppliers of the change. The new format will include the announcement of the Games Awards winners and we look forward to sharing more updates in the coming weeks.

This year’s British Academy Television Craft Awards and Virgin Media British Academy Television Awards are scheduled to go ahead on 26 April and 17 May respectively.

We are monitoring the situation daily and decisions regarding these and other events in our year-round programme will be made on a case-by-case basis and based on the latest official recommendations from the World Health Organisation, NHS and GOV UK/Public Health England.

The status of these and other events will be available against their individual listings at www.bafta.org/whats-on  or at www.bafta.org/media-centre , and ticket holders for any event which is cancelled or postponed will be contacted directly.
