CD Projekt Red has begun working on a new Witcher game

CD Projekt Red, the creators of the critically renowned The Witcher franchise, revealed on their official website that production on a new game in the series has begun.

For the project, the team has switched from REDengine to Epic Games’ powerful Unreal Engine 5. The next Witcher game is expected to be in its early stages of production, thus it won’t be published for many years. CD Projekt Red refused to say when the game will be released or when it would be developed.

“We’re excited to announce that the next game in The Witcher series is presently in production, ushering in a new era for the brand.”

We’re transitioning from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5, and we’re kicking up a multi-year strategic collaboration with Epic Games. It includes not just licensing, but also technical development of Unreal Engine 5 and, when applicable, possibly future versions of Unreal Engine. The major purpose of our collaboration with Epic Games’ developers will be to assist customize the engine for open-world experiences.

There are currently no more facts about the game, such as a development timeline or a release date, available.

The Cyberpunk 2077 technology, REDengine, is still being utilised in the creation of the future Cyberpunk 2077 expansion.”
