Donkey Kong franchise trademark updated

Nintendo’s trademark for the Donkey Kong series has been modified, according to various reports. That may not surprise you since that is what firms do with their intellectual property; nonetheless, the new trademark contains updated text that pertains especially to Donkey Kong video games, noting that the trademark is for “downloadable applications for portable and electronic consoles.”

A new Donkey Kong game?

We’ve been waiting for a new Donkey Kong game for what feels like an eternity. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, the final mainstream game in the Donkey Kong series, was launched to great acclaim on the Wii U in 2014, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was subsequently re-released on the Nintendo Switch in 2018, and we’ve been craving a fresh game ever since.

Since then, there have been several rumors.

The last point is that Nintendo is working on a new 3D/2.5D game with the Super Mario Odyssey team. Nintendo has previously stated that a new Donkey Kong expansion for Super Nintendo World would be released in 2024. There has also been speculation that Nintendo and Illumination’s next animated film partnership will be a Donkey Kong feature. We have no clue what’s next for the giant ape, but let’s hope Nintendo has something excellent in store for one of its most popular and recognizable characters.
