In the press release announcing the Donkey Kong expansion for Super Nintendo World Japan, Nintendo announced that the series crossed 65 million sales worldwide.
This feat was already accomplished as of March 2021 though so the number should have gone up a bit already.
The Donkey Kong Series
Nintendo’s Donkey Kong franchise started with an arcade game in 1981 and quickly captured the hearts of fans around the world. Since then, the Donkey Kong game series continually delivered more games on Nintendo video game systems, such as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Wii, and Nintendo Switch.
The series has sold over 65 million units (as of March 2021) worldwide to generations of fans.
And now Nintendo, please give us a true Nintendo Switch Donkey Kong exclusive! Don’t get me wrong the port for Tropical Freeze is awesome but it’s just a port. A new entry would be something people would go bananas over.
