Ojiro Fumoto, the indie creator which brought the world Downwell, has left Nintendo after working there for roughly one year.
About working at Nintendo
Working at Nintendo is a dream for most people (personally I applied in the past as well), so why did Fumoto decide to leave?
Fumoto explained that he quit the company because he wanted to become an indie developer again, as while he was working for Nintendo, he realized his passion is to “simply be making a thing I want to make”.
I was working at Nintendo for most of 2018 but I quit at the end of the year to pursue being an indie dev again. Working there was an incredible experience but ultimately I found my passion to simply be making a thing I want to make.

And that is something I can relate to very well, as NintendoReporters is my own playground compared to following someone else’s philosophy.
