Edge is doing something special for its 25th anniversary issue. Subscribers to the popular video game magazine will receive one of four different covers, featuring Nintendo’s Mario, Guile (Street Fighter), Master Chief (Halo) or Solaire of Astora (Dark Souls).
Each cover is emblazoned with bespoke art created by the talented Dave White. You can get a look at all four designs via the embedded post below:
The Edge 25th anniversary box set guarantees collectors all four covers, with a treatment you won’t find anywhere else – the Edge masthead has been removed to bring @DaveWhiteStudio’s brushwork to the fore.

Some weird choices
While Mario is an icon for sure, we can understand the choice for Master Chief but in all fairness Guile? If you say Street Fighter to anyone they will most likely note Ryu or Ken.
And Dark Souls Solaire of Astora is neat but … we can think of a few icons, even non Nintendo related who would ‘deserve’ it more to be on a 25th anniversary edition then it. (cough cough Sonic, cough cough Crash, cough cough Snake, cough cough Pac-Man)
