Evaluation moment – sorry for the interruption!

Evaluation moment – sorry for the interruption!

You may have noticed it, it has been a bit quiet for a few days on NintendoReporters. That had to do with the fact that we unexpectedly had to do some things in a different way because not everything went as planned.

Evaluation and findings

Without going too much into the technical details, because that is certainly not fascinating for everyone, etc., we can say that it was a good choice to take an evaluation moment. As a result, we have arranged a number of elements differently in order to offer you a better whole as a visitor.

  1. No more ads

We have been using Google Adsense more or less since the creation of Nintendo Reporters as an interpretation for our advertisements. We have decided, however, to stop here. That has several reasons (does not yield much, ads are not always in line with our content, the ads were often not too fresh things to do etc.)

Easy said; you do not need an adblocker with us anymore!

Should we do something in the future in the field of advertising, this will be with specific partners (think of specific promotions for games / shops, etc.) that we have reached an agreement with.

  2. Social items less prominently promoted

Of course we have to be busy with Social Media but there was quite a bit of confusion about the Social icons in our scrolling menu. Some people thought they were share options, others wanted it and others again. To avoid confusion, we have decided to have those items expire there (you can always find them via the Social page if necessary).

  3. Better language selection

As a replacement for the social icons, we have made the language selection clearer. Because that was also a thing, we secretly get some traffic from the United Kingdom and the United States. Probably because we are a multilingual medium. Apparently it was not clear to everyone how they could get to their best suitable language, we hope to improve now.

  4. Less but more

We have looked critically at a lot of other issues, including backend-related issues and applied the approach less, but better.

  5. Mobile

In the mobile field, we have arranged a number of things differently, so that the general menu, the social login options and the search options will come out better.

Sorry for the temporary interruption in our service, but we hope to take that next step again that will make us a better medium for you! From tomorrow we will be back in full effect!
