Nintendo and DeNA, a company that makes mobile games, have said they will start a business together.
For those who don’t know, DeNA is a frequent partner of Nintendo’s when it comes to making mobile games. They helped make Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and Mario Kart Tour. They also helped make Pokemon Masters EX with The Pokemon Company.
Joint Venture Company
The goal of this new company with DeNA is to “strengthen Nintendo’s business by making it more digital.” This will involve doing research and development on “value-added services” to “strengthen Nintendo’s relationship with consumers.” Most likely, this is taking advantage of DeNA’s work to connect the Nintendo Account to the mobile games they helped make.
The official start date for the joint venture company is April 2023. This means that we probably won’t see the results of this move for a while.
