Nintendo issues statement regarding fake official Nintendo websites

Nintendo issued a statement alerting users to bogus websites posing as being their legitimate websites.

Nintendo is aware of a fraudulent website that is unlawfully exploiting their legitimate logo and selling their items at dramatically reduced costs, according to the statement. They went on to advise consumers not to buy anything from these phony websites since their personal information may be taken, as well as other “fraudulent harm.”

Nintendo will take action

Nintendo has also said that all phony websites would be reported to the appropriate authorities, and has supplied links to the Japanese cybercrimes consultation webpage and the Consumers Affairs Agency homepage for anybody who has come across or been damaged by these sites. It is unknown which website caused Nintendo to produce this PSA at the time of this writing.
