Nintendo applied for a new patent to improve mini-maps in its games. The enhanced mini-mapĀ appears to be primarily focused on the Splatoon series, and appears to be a system that allows players to better understand their position on the map, the location of important items, and points of interest, by utilizing more dynamic and responsive camera movement. The patent itself is far more extensive, and there is very certainly much more to this system than what can be presented here.
