Nintendo is currently on a roll with the Nintendo Switch system which has proved to be a hit around the world.
Japanese publication The Nikkei managed to speak with the company’s president Shuntaro Furukawa who was open about the companies future in a recent interview.
Streaming
With streaming thought to play a huge part in the next generation systems from Microsoft and Sony it seems as though this could be something that Nintendo is considering further down the line, rather than creating dedicated video game hardware.
Flexibility
It has been over 30 years since we started developing consoles. Nintendo’s history goes back even farther than that, and through all the struggles that they faced the only thing that they thought about was what to make next. In the long-term, perhaps our focus as a business could shift away from home consoles – flexibility is just as important as ingenuity.
And before we all go apeshit … Nintendo is moving away from consoles … you’re wrong this will not happen or at least not anytime soon.
