SEGA CEO on quality of Sonic games + future

Would SEGA really see why Sonic fans were so disappointed in recent years?

In the period that SEGA itself was making hardware, their mascot Sonic was known for its lightning fast and good games. A few years after SEGA decided to make only software, the quality of Sonic titles deteriorated drastically.

Lows included Sonic from 2006 and Sonic Boom on Wii U.

CNBC Interview CEO SEGA

In an interview with CNBC, Haruki Satomi, CEO of SEGA, spoke about the past and the future.

Satomi said in the interview that SEGA is indeed aware of the big fanbase of Sonic and that the company only wants to release good quality Sonic games. New titles in the series will therefore no longer be released before the company itself is 100% behind the game.

When asked how he wanted to put Sonic back on the map, he gave the recently published Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces as an answer. Both games were rated considerably better than games that appeared in the previous years. One is also working on a Sonic film for the future.

The best man was so enthusiastic that he gave the answer ‘yes’ to the question if Sonic could ever beat Mario.

We take the last one with a huge bowl of salt … sorry SEGA but that just will not happen.
