SEGA – Sonic theme park

SEGA – Sonic theme park

Sonic’s 30th anniversary has begun…or kind of…when the very first Sonic the Hedgehog game turned 30.

Sonic 1 released on the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis in 1991, and while SEGA and Nintendo have since become good friends in the decades following that intense 90s rivalry, the legacy of the blue blur has not been forgotten.

Sonic Theme Park

Famitsu has an upcoming Sonic 30th Anniversary column on the way. Several people in Sonic Team are interviewed, including SEGA art director Kazuyuki Hoshino.

Hoshino has revealed that they want to open a Sonic theme park, due to the success of the Sonic movie that came out last year.

But is Sonic big enough on its own for an entire theme park? Nintendo’s approach to creating a Nintendo theme park is solid. SEGA might be better off coming up with a similar approach… rather than going all in on Sonic, right?
