Sonic Movie – Earns $200 Million Worldwide in first 10 Days

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie debuted with a record-breaking weekend in theaters –both in North America and worldwide.

Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth.

In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

And it looks like Sonic’s victory streak is still going strong this week!

10 Days – 200 Million

At the 10-day mark, the movie has now earned a whopping $203.1 million worldwide ($64.6 million during its second weekend). Domestically in the US, the film has also hit $106.6 million in gross earnings – and is on track to outrun Detective Pikachu if it earns around $38 million more in the following weeks!

This performance means that the movie has likely maintained first place in US theaters for a second week in a row. This is despite the launch of Disney’s The Call of the Wild (starring Harrison Ford) – which it raced neck-to-neck with in the box office.
