Sonic the Hedgehog animation redesign studio shut down

The studio behind the amazing version of Sonic in the forthcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been shut down.

The reason giving was “increasing external market pressures in Vancouver and more attractive opportunities in other locations.” Moving Picture Company Vancouver will shut down immediately.

Redesign costs

The redesign of Sonic in the upcoming movie was thought to have cost $3.8 million.

Personally I have gone on record expressing my disbelief about this;

They fixed the horrific design situation. And for all their effort they got NOTHING. Even worse they are shutdown now. Paramount should at least be so decent to make sure they get something for the great work they did with the redesign. But that does not seem to be the case.

Jokingly I said; Paramount seems like a great company.
But it seems they are really only in it for the profit (which is not a bad thing in itself). But letting the company that helps fix something that would make your movie flop, more or less collapse .. well that is in my book.

Such a shame because they really seem to have had quite some talent.
