The Cuphead Show is just a few weeks away from premiering on Netflix, so we’ve begun to discover a little bit more about what we can anticipate. This includes the amount of episodes and seasons presently planned. Many of the episodes seem to last between 10 / 11 minutes.
Chad and Jared Moldenhauer announced in a recent interview with Animation Magazine that the program would have 36 episodes spread over three seasons.
We were originally using the old theatrical shorts as a model for structure,” says Wasson, “but we found it was hard to stay within a seven-minute format. These stories wanted to be a little longer, so it caps off at something like 10 1/2 or 11 minutes, though each episode is a little different in running time.” Some of the initial 36 episodes, which will premiere over three separate drops, are presented as two- and even three-parters.

Cuphead’s catchy graphic style is so reminiscent of vintage animation that a complete series is a natural next step for the brand. It’s wonderful to see that The Cuphead Show will presumably be around for a long, with a few dozen episodes already confirmed.
