The Pokemon Company bought the Millennium Print Group

The Pokemon Company announced the acquisition of Millennium Print Group, which has been the company’s long-term partner in North America for printing the Pokemon Trading Card Game.

The amount of the purchase deal has not been disclosed. Millennium Print Group, according to The Gamer, has been producing and packaging Pokemon TCG items since the two firms collaborated in 2015. Millennium Print Group’s “capabilities, infrastructure, and scale to become a top printer of trading cards, servicing the larger market” will now be expanded by the Pokemon Company.

The Pokemon Company International’s president, Kenji Okubo

Simultaneously, we want Millennium to grow into an even better, larger, state-of-the-art version of their already outstanding company, benefitting not just Pokemon, but all of their consumers.

Millennium Print Group to remain independent

The Pokemon Company will contribute “funding and industrial knowledge,” while Millennium Print Group will continue to function as a “independent, autonomous business.” Millennium Print Group’s “capabilities, infrastructure, and scale to become a top printer of trading cards, supporting the larger market,” according to the Pokemon Company.

This action is unlikely to effect Pokemon Card Game participants in any manner, except maybe by increasing the number of cards available.
