The Super Mario Movie is delayed to April 2023

Nintendo recently revealed that the Super Mario Bros. animated film will sadly be postponed until April 2023.

The revelation was conveyed by Mario inventor Shigeru Miyamoto, who is also a co-producer on the film. He and Chris Meledandri, the creator of Illumination, agreed to postpone the picture till April 7 in North America and April 28 in Japan. It had been scheduled for December of this year.

Mr Miyamoto’s comment on the Super Mario Bros. movie’s delay:

This is Miyamoto. After consulting with Chris-san, my partner at Illumination on the Super Mario Bros. film, we decided to move the global release to Spring 2023 – April 28 in Japan and April 7 in North America. My deepest apologies but I promise it will be well worth the wait.

In 2018, it was revealed that a new Mario film will be released. Mario is played by Chris Pratt, Peach is played by Anya Taylor-Joy, Luigi is played by Charlie Day, Bowser is played by Jack Black, Toad is played by Keegan-Michael Key, Donkey Kong is played by Seth Rogen, Cranky Kong is played by Fred Armisen, Kamek is played by Kevin Michael Richardson, and Spike is played by Sebastian Maniscalco. Charles Martinet will also make a surprise appearance.
