3DS and WiiU eShops to stop accepting Credit Card Payments in Japan

3DS and WiiU eShops to stop accepting Credit Card Payments in Japan

Nintendo shared an important piece of news regarding the Japanese 3DS and WiiU eShops. Starting 18th January 2022, 9 AM JST, the Japanese eShop for the 3DS and WiiU will stop accepting credit card and debit card payments.

Years after the others

This news comes a few years after such support was ended for the 3DS and WiiU eShops in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Following the end date, players will only be able to use prepaid eShop cards or by topping the account up via Nintendo’s official website.

Following this trend, it may be only a matter of time before a similar announcement will be made for the North American 3DS and WiiU eShops.

And well it is really becoming time now isn’t it.
