Balan Wonderworld released but sadly with even more issues than we expected. Square Enix issued a warning to all players regarding triggering photo-sensitive epilepsy. Yeah this game keeps falling down the pit it seems.
YouTuber Bigdaddyjende noted the bug occurs during the final boss battle, and appears as a bright white flashing light with strobe effects.
According to Square Enix, this effect was not intentional and is actually fixed by downloading the game’s day one patch. Please ensure that you install the Day 1 Patch before playing.

We have received reports of a photo-sensitive epilepsy risk from a potential flashing bug if playing the game un-patched.
The Day 1 Patch prevents this issue as well as enhances the overall play experience.

Did this fix the issue?
Other players who completed the same boss battle did not encounter this issue, presumably because they patched the game beforehand. Players who own the physical version of Balan Wonderworld would therefore be advised to download the patch as soon as possible to avoid encountering this risk.
But seriously, this should have come to light in play testing which really raises the question why users had to find this bug in the first place. Personally I will be avoiding the title all together.
