Cuphead Delicious Last Course – 3-4 hours depending on skills

GameSpot and IGN released previews for Cuphead: Delicious Last Course, the long-awaited Cuphead DLC, and have spoken with the creators at Studio MDHR.

One of the devs that GameSpot talked to claimed the DLC took them roughly 3-4 hours to finish but it all depends on your skill level some may accomplish it in this timeframe while others it might take a lot longer. GameSpot also discovered that the team has been raising the bar for the animation and aesthetics in Cuphead: Delicious Last Course, with the DLC including around twice the amount of animation elements as the basic Cuphead game. Cuphead: Delicious Last Course will be released on June 30th for $8 and will need the basic game to play.

Cuphead: Delicious Last Course details

Over on Inkwell Isle, Cuphead speaks with a ferryman who informs him that the Legendary Chalice wants to meet with him.” Cuphead and Mugman are transported via boat–which may be utilized to move quickly between all of the islands–to meet the Legendary Chalice on shore. She hands Mugman a cookie, and after he finishes it, the two switch positions. Ms. Chalice is the reincarnation of the Legendary Chalice, whereas Mugman is a ghost. Chef Saltbaker, the town’s pastry expert, assures them that the move is just temporary. However, if the three can get the ingredients for the Wondertart, Ms. Chalice will be resurrected permanently–without having to switch places with unfortunate Cuphead or Mugman. The only issue? The materials are being kept by the island’s nefarious nasties.

According to Studio MDHR, the DLC’s animation influences date back to the late 1930s and early 1940s. Furthermore, the crew intended to push the boundaries of what was feasible with its animation approach. In that regard, the studio said that the hand-drawn bosses were made on bigger animation paper and took significantly longer to complete. Overall, it is estimated that the DLC has around twice as many animation details as the main game. Meanwhile, the musical pieces played during the preview were just as nostalgic and catchy as the tracks in the original game. The DLC includes new start screen music featuring Ms. Chalice, while in-game music features the fizzling jazz orchestra that helped the main game stand out nearly as much for its sound as it did for its animations.

“However, Studio MDHR announced “mission side missions” that might provide extra replay value, and the new isle has been dubbed the “largest one yet.” According to one Studio MDHR developer, the DLC took them 3-4 hours to complete. Obviously, your skill level will have a significant impact on the first playtime. However, although the DLC seems to be more Cuphead–in a positive way–the new playable character and weapons/charms may end up making the game more accessible for those who found Cuphead too difficult.”
