Exceeding expectations and Wii U sales in less than a year: in France, the Nintendo Switch is also immensely popular.

The French Les Numérique talked to Philippe Lavoué, the head of Nintendo France. The interview mainly focused on the success of the Nintendo Switch and brought some concrete figures upwards.

Not surprisingly Nintendo Switch is doing very well in France. In fact, the system can now rightfully be called the best selling game console in France, with 911,000 systems sold in 2017. Previously the record was held by Nintendo’s Wii, with 703,000 copies sold. This also means that Nintendo’s latest device in less than a year, sales of the Wii U where surpassed, as has already happened in Japan.

Philippe Lavoué further expressed the expectation that the system selling the milestone of one million in February. By the end of 2018 he hopes to have passed the two million copies.
The Frenchman further talked about the software released for the device. Nintendo also has done good business there. Super Mario Odyssey sold 512,000 copies, followed by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with 508,000 sales and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with 410,000 sales.

Splatoon 2 managed to sell 252,000 copies and 1-2 Switch sold slightly more than 200,000 times. Nintendo’s own line-up takes 74% of total software sales alone.
Games by third parties did indeed less than the titles Nintendo released itself, yet Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle sold over 150,000 times, FIFA 18 has sold a total of 73,000 times and roughly about 50,000 people purchased Just Dance and Rayman Legends.

Philippe Lavoué devoted a briefl note about amiibo and Nintendo 3DS, by saying that 2017 saw sales of 630,000 amiibo figures and 507,000 Nintendo 3DS systems sold, accompanied by about three million game copies. Also regarding the SNES Mini he shares figures. The unit sold 221,000 times.

A significant increase relative to the 110,000 copies sold by the inital NES mini, but this figure is restrained according to Lavoué by a shortage of supply.
