Nintendo increases Nintendo Switch production to battle shortages

A Nintendo representative stated that the company ordered an increase in production for their Nintendo Switch consoles to help counteract the current global shortages.

With many staying indoors at the moment, buying a new Switch is difficult with some online stores not being able to offer a replenishment date.

Nintendo representative told Nikkei;

We hope [suppliers] will be responsive to the production increase, but for procurement of some parts, the outlook remains uncertain, and we can’t forecast exactly how many Switches can be supplied

But according to part suppliers who are aware to Nintendo’s plans, there will be a 10% increase meaning that the originally projected manufactured console number jumps up to a total of 22 million units in the April – June quarter.

This will hopefully mean that consumers will have a  little easier time to find and purchase a Nintendo Switch system
