Nintendo still tweaking N64 app for Nintendo Switch Online

The Nintendo 64 application for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack has been upgraded to Version 2.3.0 with the release of Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

Nintendo seems to be continuing to improve the performance of select vintage games on the Nintendo 64 app, including minor upgrades to Star Fox 64, Mario Golf 64, and others. The announcement was made by dataminer Oatmeal Dome, who had been investigating some of the changes in the new Version 2.3.0 release.

We learned in February that the Kyoto-based business was modifying parts of the game’s mechanics, and Nintendo of America president, Doug Bowser, had said last November that the company takes input on the N64 app and its titles very seriously.

N64 changes in the Version 2.3.0 update:

  • Gamma adjustment was supported in Star Fox 64, with the gamma value set at 1.8.
  • Dr. Mario 64’s renderer settings were tweaked (“ConstValue 0” was added).
  • Mario Golf’s renderer settings were tweaked (“ConstValue 1” was added).

These findings comer from well respected dataminer OatmealDome;
