Nintendo Switch OLED Joy-Cons – Same as the current Joy-Cons

Nintendo published a FAQ section on for the newly announced Nintendo Switch OLED and it confirms what most of us thought regarding the Joy-Cons.

The new model comes included with a pair but they are no different from the current Joy-Cons found on the current Nintendo Switch system and Nintendo Switch Lite system. Sadly they don’t even feature a much desired D-pad.

Even the dock is basically the same

The Dock is the same too and can be used on both systems, although a system update may be required for some reason or other.

  • Can I use the Joy-Con controllers I currently have with Nintendo Switch (OLED model)?
    • Yes. The Joy-Con controllers included with Nintendo Switch (OLED model) are the same as the controllers currently available.

The Nintendo Switch (OLED model) launches on 8th October which is the same date as Metroid Dread which might hint at something special in itself … or are we reading too much into that?
