Outside of the ‘Best Family Game’ category, Nintendo has received few nominations for The Game Awards 2018.
2018 not the year of Nintendo?
In the category Best Family Game, Nintendo titles shine: Mario Tennis Aces, Nintendo Lab, Super Mario Party, Star Link: Battle for Atlas and even Overcooked 2.
And then you’ve had it with all nominations for Nintendo this year at The Game Awards. Given the real blockbusters from Nintendo, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee, have yet to come out, they are unfortunately not really included.
2017 was a hit
Last year this was different, when Super Mario Odyssey and in particular The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won almost all prizes and that was no surprise at all.
But enter the indies. Like the extremely surprised Celeste, who is even nominated for Game of the Year. Something that will not win but for everyone this game has not played. Let Pokemon or whatever game it is that you are playing now and go and play Celeste.
Square Enix ‘are also Octopus Traveler can win prizes: this was able to score nominations in Best RPG and Best Score / Music. Wanted? Certainly!
The Game Awards are on December 6, 2018 and are expected to come with some interesting announcements!
