Not every title supports cloud saves Nintendo Switch Online

In a statement, Nintendo says that most Nintendo Switch titles use the cloud save function, but that it is not universal.

Pardon … most ?!

Especially titles that rely heavily on online functions seem to be the victim. Nintendo wants to be sure that this and other titles are played fairly.

In some games this service can make it possible to get back items that have been exchanged to other players, or to return to a higher multiplayer ranking that has been lost

Splatoon 2 is one of the victims of this policy.

To ensure that Save Date Cloud backups are not unfairly used to affect online multiplayer rankings, the feature is not available in Splatoon 2.

The statement followed after several game pages (such as Splatoon 2) appeared on the Nintendo of America website saying “This game does not support Save Date Cloud backups.”

Which titles do not support it?

You can read it at Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee, NBA 2K19, FIFA 19, Dead Cells and Dark Souls: Remastered. Especially the last third party titles are special: according to Game Informer, they do support Cloud Save on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Nintendo Switch Online appears in the second half of September (presumably 20 September)

What is your opinion about the decision not to allow cloud saves for all titles
