Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, has said that he would “love” to see Call of Duty on Nintendo Switch.
Spencer made his remarks earlier this week at a Wall Street Journal event. He discussed a wide range of subjects, including Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard.
Spencer on the future of Call of Duty
“On the PlayStation, Call of Duty will be accessible. I’d love to see the game available on the Switch and on a variety of displays. Our goal is to approach CoD similarly to Minecraft.
Microsoft and Xbox have shown interest in bringing Call of Duty titles to Switch in the past as well. Brad Smith, the president of Microsoft, indicated the business would be open to placing the franchise on “Nintendo devices” around the time when the news of Activision Blizzard’s purchase emerged.
Minecraft continues to operate on its then-current platforms after Microsoft acquired it. Later, the Switch version of the game and Minecraft Dungeons were revealed. Minecraft Legends will debut the next year.
Despite Nintendo Switch’s popularity, Call of Duty has not yet been released for the system. The latest game in the series to appear on a Nintendo console was Call of Duty Ghosts on Wii U in 2013.
