Information on the next Pokemon game, Pokemon: Legends Arceus, was leaked, with a few individuals receiving retail copies ahead of the game’s premiere next Friday. The game makes use of NPLN, Nintendo’s new and better online networking library, according to what has been uncovered.
While Pokemon Legends: Arceus will not have full online play, it will feature trade, like in prior games. Although NPLN is currently in testing, it was initially deployed in Monster Hunter Rise and provides consistent connection.
As a reminder, Nintendo had been primarily using NEX before NPLN went in development, since 3DS days!
The underlying framework, called Rendez-Vous and made by Quazal (now Ubisoft), dated back from old Windows games and involved P2P for live multiplayer connections (with PiaNex).— Thomas (@thomasnet_mc) January 19, 2022
