About Pokemon Scarlet/Violet

In the Paldea Region, you can catch, battle, and train Pokemon. This is a big area with lakes, tall peaks, wastelands, small towns, and big cities. You don’t have to follow a set path, so you can go wherever you want through three great stories. In one of these stories, you can take on Pokemon Gyms in any order you want as you try to get to the Champion Rank. Ride the shape-changing Legendary Pokemon Koraidon to see a big world at your own pace and get around on land, water, and in the air. Before you start your journey through Paldea, choose either Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly to be your first partner Pokemon.

In the Paldea region, Pokemon can Terastallize to get special powers. When a Pokemon Terastallizes, a Tera Jewel appears above its head like a crown, and its body shines like a cut gemstone. Each Pokemon has a Tera Type that doesn’t do anything until it Terastallizes. For example, most Eevee will have a Normal Tera Type, but some will have a Flying Tera Type. When a Pokemon that has been Terastallized uses a move that matches both its Tera Type and at least one of its original types, the power of that move goes up even more! The key to winning or losing battles in the Paldea region is terastallizing.

People from all over the world come to a prestigious school in the Paldea Region to test their skills against each other, whether it’s in the classroom or in Pokemon battles. Whether you play Pokemon Scarlet or Pokemon Violet, the name of the school, its emblem, its uniforms, and other details will be different. Take classes with different teachers who can teach you about battles, Pokemon biology, and other things. Start an independent study called “Treasure Hunt” to meet new people, try new things, and find your own treasure.

On November 18, 2022, Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will be available for Switch.
