The Pokemon Company announced that Pokemon Sword and Shield will get a special set of distributions (at least) in Japan.
Starting the week of August 11, a series of serial codes for Pokemon Sword and Shield will be given out with episodes of the Pokemon Journeys anime. Each code can be used to redeem a different Pokemon that Ash is using in the Masters Tournament arc of the anime. Five Pokemon will be given away, and Pikachu will be given away as part of a separate tie-in to a movie.

- Dragonite – August 26th
- Gengar – September 2nd
- Sirfetch’d – September 9th
- Lucario – September 16th
At the time this was written, we didn’t know what these Pokemon’s exact traits were.Â
Also there seems to be no indication of this coming to the West.
