SEGA delisting most versions of Sonic games on May 20 2022

SEGA stated that most of the previous digital releases for the titles included in the Sonic Origins collection would be delisted ahead of the collection’s imminent release.

Sonic The Hedgehog 1, 2, 3, and Knuckles and Sonic CD standalone digital editions will be deleted from all digital retailers on May 20th, 2022, with a few exceptions. This modification will not effect the SEGA AGES releases of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2, as well as the Switch Online Expansion Pack’s copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

This implies that after May 20th, the only option for newbies to get their hands on these titles will be to acquire the Sonic Origins collection, which is sure to upset and frustrate anybody who wishes to buy the games separately. Players who are just interested in one or two games from the collection should act soon before they are taken down.
