Takashi Iizuka, who is in charge of the Sonic games, says that Sonic Frontiers will have the most content of any Sonic game so far.
Iizuka told Everyeye about this in an interview. He also said that he wanted to make exploring Starfall Islands “stimulating” for players by adding different things.

I can’t say how many stages the game will have. But I can say for sure that Frontiers has the most content of any Sonic game ever made. We wanted Starfall Islands to be interesting enough for the players, so we gave them a lot of minigames and other things to do while they were exploring. When we had to make the maps, we thought right away about where to put puzzles, ramps, and other things that would keep people interested.
Iizuka’s comments back up what Morio Kishimoto, the director of Sonic Frontiers, said before: that the game will be longer than previous ones in the series. Most players will be able to finish it in 20 to 30 hours, but completionists can double that time.
