Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars are coming and details about how the game will be better have come to light.
Konami had already given some early information about the changes.
Improvement of Suikoden I&II HD Remaster
We know that the graphics have been updated because all of the background illustrations are now in HD and the effects for the pixel art animation have been changed. Konami has also said that there will be new sound effects for the environment, sound effects for battles that are now also in HD, auto-save, the ability to speed up battles, and a conversation log.
There’s even more here than I thought. Back to the graphics, there will be new effects like lighting, clouds, flickering flames, smoldering smoke, the movement of leaves and insects, and more. Suikoden I HD Remaster: Gate Rune War also has new character portraits made by character designer Junko Kawano. There will also be battles that go twice as fast.
Suikoden I&II HD Remaster has been in the works for more than two years, which is also worth mentioning. During a stage show at TGS 2022, director Takahiro Sakiyama said that the project began around the same time as the pandemic.
Konami recently said that it is also working on a new translation. Yasuo Daikai, the producer, said that the team made the dialogue boxes bigger. “That let us retool and work on the localization to get closer to the Japanese script,” he said.
In 2023, Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars, HD remasters of Suikoden I and II, will be available for Nintendo Switch.
