Switch Online service will have “Nintendo twist” according to Reggie

From next year we will have to pay for the online services of the Nintendo Switch. But we’re almost at the end of the year and there is still very much unclear about the service.

What will it mean for gamers? The only concrete things we know is that some NES games will be made available and that the service is not expensive compared to Xbox Live and Playstation Network.

Interview Reggie

Reggie Fils-Aime, President of Nintendo America (NOA), in an interview with Forbes mentioned that Nintendo Switch Online will be different from other similar services.

He can not tell exactly what gamers get when they enter into a subscription, but Nintendo Switch Online ‘will have a Nintendo twist’. What that means exactly , we, as always, will to have to wait to find out.

I’m not going to tell you exactly what it’s going to look like. We’ll share more about that next year. But what I can tell you is that our vision is to have a robust online environment that not only provides the mechanism for you to have your multiplayer experiences and matchmaking, those elements are minimum. Our goal is to provide that extra Nintendo twist, and that’s what makes our company historically so effective. We don’t do things the same way everyone else does. We relish being different. We see that difference as an element that makes us more compelling to the consumer. And so having that differentiated experience is what we are focused on and we’ll unveil more next year as we’re closer to the launch of the service.

Reggienator let’s kick some ass!

Anyone who knows their Nintendo history a little bit should be familiar with that statement, for those who are not; Reggie came up with a similar quote when he was opening the Nintendo E3 press conference in 2004.

Because we simply can not resist;

It also got him the nickname Reggienator.

But back to now, we really hope with all our heart that Nintendo will take the online part of the Nintendo Switch seriously. You might not think so but an online platform, if designed properly,  can add so much value to your gaming platform ( just look at the other parties) but also definitely think of e-sports etc.

So yes Reggie take names, make video games and kick some online ass, please!!
