Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge – No DLC Plans yet, all depends on reception

Even though Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge just came out, many fans are already wondering if the long-awaited game will get any DLC.

Based on what Tribute Games‘ Narrative Designer Yannick Belzil said in an interview with IGN, it seemed at first like the game wouldn’t get any DLC like new costumes. In that interview, Belzil said that this kind of feature would be hard to add because the game’s sprites are so detailed:

We didn’t really think about different costumes when we were making the game because we’re proud of our animations, which are very detailed and full of personality. They are very animated and have a lot of small details, so making them takes a long time.

I’ve always thought it would be cool if the Turtles could be in trench coats and hats like they were in the old cartoons. But again, that would take a lot of time, especially with our animators. For example, they’d want the trench coat to be flowing, and you’d want it to be moving.

Never said never

After IGN published the story, Dotemu CEO and Executive Producer Cyrille Imbert clarified on Twitter that while these comments confirmed that the game would not have alternate costumes at launch, they did not rule out the possibility of DLC.

Imbert says that there are no plans for DLC for the game right now, but that could change depending on how well it does:

Either way,  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge seems to be rock solid game and if DLC happens we will jump at it for sure.
