Reggie – Wii U was indeed a failure

During former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime’s lecture at Cornell, Reggie briefly touched on the Wii U and Nintendo Switch.

The Wii U, Nintendo’s home console before the successful Nintendo Switch, was seen as a failure by many people in the industry. Though Nintendo leaders have never called the Wii U a failure despite the disastrous sales, Reggie acknowledged that the console failed during his lecture.

He is just being open and candid about it, probably something that Nintendo would not want him saying it while still being officially attached to Nintendo.

Failure forward

Reggie used an interesting term to describe the Wii U – “failure forward”. What that means is it was necessary for Wii U to fail in order for the Nintendo Switch, a completely new concept, to succeed.

Well for what it is worth. We own both. We love our Wii U but we so much more love our Nintendo Switch. How about you?
