Ubisoft stops online service various Wii / Wii U titles

Ubisoft for various Nintendo Wii and Nintendo Wii titles has stopped it’s online services since last Saturday November 11th.

The company announced this on their forums, where an explanation was given that by ending the online services the team can focus on newer and more popular titles.

The following titles are affected:

  • Splinter Cell Blacklist (Wii U)
  • Just Dance 4 (Wii U)
  • Just Dance Disney Party (Wii)
  • Marvel Avenger Battle for Earth (Wii U)
  • Rabbids Land (Wii U)
  • Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2013 (Wii U)
  • ESPN Sport Connections (Wii U)

What does that mean?

If you have one of these games then this means the following for you;

  • It is no longer possible for these titles to play online multiplayer.
  • Ingame News Player Stats and services are terminated in the games that had this feature.
  • The Uplay service is no longer available for these titles
  • It is no longer possible to earn in-game units (Uplay currency) by completing certain actions.
  • You can still unlock certain rewards, but you will not receive the reward.
  • The ULC (exclusive content) is disabled, which means you can not unlock it. If you already have unlocked ULC will be reset remain until you decide your game.

At a certain point developers need to be able to move one, did you find that Ubisoft has waited long enough to take such action?
