Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass courses playable online without requiring purchase

Nintendo recently announced the release of a paid Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which will bring a number of additional remastered courses to the game over the following several years.

Those who are unable to buy the pass will be able to play the additional courses online even if they do not possess the DLC, according to Nintendo. The following information regarding Wave 1 of the DLC can be found on the game’s official website:

Even if just one person has the Booster Course Pass or has access to it as part of a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, courses from wave 1 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass may be played locally or online in Friends and Rivals races starting March 18th. When playing Global or Regional races with anybody online starting March 22nd, courses from wave 1 will also show in the Random selection.

Not a surprise

In practice, this implies that players who do not possess the DLC will soon be able to play the maps via random online play or by connecting with a buddy who does. Although this revelation is unlikely to come as a surprise, it is comforting to know that everyone may enjoy the maps in some way without being left behind.
