Nintendo – No comment on Animal Crossing: New Horizons ban In China

Animal Crossing: New Horizons was recently banned in China, leading to a blackout on the Weibo hashtag and retailers getting their games confiscated.

The Huffington Post has reached out to Nintendo for comment on the situation in China. Their media liaison responded “Nintendo is unable to comment on this at this time”.

That’s an odd message to send

Nintendo is all about being inclusive when it comes to Animal Crossing: New Horizons so the lack of a proper response is weird to say the least. But that could indicate Nintendo does not want to confront the country’s policy on the matter.

For us here in Europe this might seem odd. But keep in mind China has not always been so generous when it comes to censorships and bans of the sort.

Do you think Nintendo should stand up to this, specially in light that Animal Crossing: New Horizons in itself is not at all something which deserves such a treatment?
