You play as Link, a farm boy chosen by the gods to free the kingdom of Hyrule from the clutches of the King of Shadows, Zant, who has cursed the land with an everlasting twilight. To confront this new threat and break the curse that turned him into a wolf, Link joins forces with the mysterious, mischievous Midna, a being from the shadowy dimension known as the Twilight Realm.
Journey to the far reaches of Hyrule, explore bustling villages, arid deserts, and the Twilight Realm itself to find the powers that will help you overcome the darkness. Wield sword and shield to defeat deadly foes, outmaneuver enemies with crafty offensive and evasive moves, and crack tough puzzles using handy items like the Slingshot and the Gale Boomerang. Travel on foot or on horseback through dangerous regions, and battle enemies from the back of your loyal steed, Epona! Delve deep into ominous dungeons where danger lurks around every corner and colossal bosses await.
During your quest to save the land, you can turn Link’s cursed form to your advantage by entering the Twilight Realm as Wolf Link. As a wolf, perform leaping and spinning attacks and unleash special energy field strikes to hit multiple enemies at once. You can also use your heightened sense of smell to track clues and leap to great heights to reach places beyond human grasp.
Use the Wii U GamePad’s touchscreen to manage items and view maps without pausing. You can also aim the Hero’s Bow and other weapons with intuitive motion controls, or play the game off-TV on the touchscreen.
Beyond the main story, there are plenty of exciting side quests to complete. Cast your line to hook fish, hunt for insects everywhere, or search for the hidden spirits known as Poes! There’s always something new to discover.
Push your skills to the limit in Hero Mode, available right from the start. In this mirrored version of Hyrule, enemies deal twice as much damage and hearts are harder to come by!
If the battle gets too tough, you can call on amiibo for backup! With the Wolf Link amiibo (initially available only in the limited edition), you’ll gain access to a bonus challenge found exclusively in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. You can also give the adventure a different twist using other compatible amiibo.
