Tantalus – No word on Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

Tantalus is the development firm that introduced The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess to the Wii U and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD to the Nintendo Switch.

Twilight Princess HD was a huge hit with fans, and many have been pleading with Nintendo to bring the game on the newer Nintendo Switch system. Tantalus CEO Tom Crago, meanwhile, recently said on the Fragments of Silicon podcast that his business has not been asked by Nintendo to convert The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD to the Nintendo Switch. This does not rule out the possibility, but it is not a promising indicator.

Nintendo has not asked (yet)

With our buddies over there, we’ll take whatever chance we can to collaborate on one of their games.” Our two firms are always communicating. Often, there is some time between titles, and various ideas are discussed, but in the case of Skyward Sword, some time passed, and then the email arrived: ‘Would you be interested in exploring bringing Skyward Sword to Switch?’ Of course, the response is, ‘Yes, we would.’ Then we start talking with Nintendo about what it may look like, and finally we get started. So it was comparable in many ways to how Twilight Princess (on Wii U) came to fruition.

No, and look, we’d clearly love to do that, but Nintendo hasn’t made it a priority – at least not in talks they’ve had with us.
